WHAT WE BUILD

Systems we deliver end-to-end

Our custom software development work falls into four common shapes. Each project runs with a fixed scope, weekly demos and a working product at handover.

New products and MVPs

For founders and innovation teams building v1. We take the initial concept and ship a working product, with rapid iteration once it's in real users' hands. Built to production standards from day one, so what launches is something you can charge for.

Customer-facing platforms

E-commerce sites, customer portals, SaaS products and marketplaces. Built to handle real traffic, real payments and the operational load that comes with paying customers. Performance, security and analytics are baked in rather than bolted on at the end.

Internal tools and dashboards

Admin panels, workflow automation tools, reporting dashboards and BI systems. The software your team uses every day to run the business. Built to fit the actual workflow your people use, with the design polish you'd expect on customer-facing work.

System modernisation

Legacy system rebuilds, platform migrations and integrations between old and new infrastructure. We map the dependencies, plan the migration in phases and keep the business running while the rebuild happens around it.

HOW A PROJECT RUNS

How a system development project comes together

Stage 1

Discovery and scope

A free scoping call covers the goal, technical requirements, timeline and integration points. We come back within 24 hours with a written scope, fixed-price quote and proposed timeline. NDAs are signed before any detailed discussion. Once the quote is approved, design and architecture begin within the week.

Stage 2

Design and architecture

UX wireframes, visual design and technical architecture are produced in parallel. You review and sign off on each before development starts, so what gets built matches what was agreed. The senior project lead walks you through every major decision in plain language, with the technical reasoning behind it.

Stage 3

Sprint-based build

Development runs in two-week sprints with a working demo at the end of each. You see real progress every fortnight, with the option to adjust priorities between sprints. Code review, automated tests and a dedicated staging environment apply to every commit.

Stage 4

Launch and handover

Pre-launch testing covers functional, security and load testing. Deployment runs to a staged plan with rollback ready if anything looks off. Source code, repositories, cloud accounts, infrastructure and documentation are handed over in full, with training sessions for your team where useful.

WHAT YOU GET

What's included in every system development project

Scope locked before any code is written

You know exactly what's being built, by when and for how much before the project starts. The scope document, timeline and fixed-price quote get signed by both sides so there's no ambiguity once development begins.

Weekly demos so you watch the product come together

Every sprint ends with a working demo of what shipped that fortnight. You see real progress in your hands rather than status reports, and you can flag adjustments while there's still time to act on them.

A Japan-based senior project lead

One Japan-based contact owns the project across kick-off, build and handover. They handle the team, the schedule, the quality checks and the communication, in your timezone and your language. Escalations have a clear path and a fast turnaround.

Quality controls applied to every commit

Mandatory code review, automated CI tests, manual QA on every release and a dedicated pre-production staging environment. Security testing is included as standard, with OWASP Top 10 coverage on every web-facing build.

You own the code from day one

All code is committed to your repositories from the first sprint. Cloud accounts and build pipelines run under your business. At handover, 100% of the source code, infrastructure and intellectual property is yours with a written transfer document.

30 days of post-launch support included

The team stays on for 30 days after launch to handle bug fixes and minor issues at no extra cost. After that you can move to a maintenance retainer, ad-hoc support or hand the system over fully to your in-house team.

STACK AND CAPABILITIES

The technology we build with

We build with the tooling your team and project need rather than forcing one stack on every client. Where your team already runs on something specific, we work within it. Where the stack is open, we recommend based on what fits the project and your team's long-term maintenance capacity.

PRICING

How system development pricing works

Custom software development is priced on the scope agreed before development starts. Fixed-price quotes cover requirements analysis, UX and visual design, sprint-based development, QA, deployment and 30 days of post-launch support — one line item so the budget stays clear.

  • Fixed-price quotes on well-scoped builds
  • One line item covers requirements, design, build, QA and 30-day support
  • Out-of-scope changes quoted in writing before any extra work begins
  • Paid discovery sprint available for projects with harder-to-lock scope

Out-of-scope changes are quoted in writing as they come up. The change-order process follows Japanese contract practices so nothing gets bolted on without your written sign-off.

AFTER LAUNCH

What happens once the system is live

Every project includes 30 days of post-launch support covering bug fixes, minor issues and stability monitoring. After that there are three paths.

Ongoing maintenance retainer

Monthly updates, security patches, performance work and small enhancements. Most clients move here once the system is bedded in.

Ad-hoc support

For occasional change requests, billed on the hours used. Useful for businesses with internal capacity who just need backup occasionally.

Full handover

Your in-house team takes the system completely. We run a knowledge transfer week and walk away clean, with documentation that holds up to a future audit.

SYSTEM DEVELOPMENT OR LAB-TYPE

Choosing the right engagement model

System Development

If you have a defined project with a clear scope and end date, system development is the right fit.

Lab-Type Development

If you have an evolving roadmap and need a dedicated team to keep shipping over months and years, lab-type development makes more sense.

Learn about lab-type

Both run on the same Japan-managed delivery model with the same engineers, quality controls and IP handling.

FAQS

Common questions about system development

Project length depends on the build. Small platforms and MVPs typically run six to twelve weeks. Mid-sized custom platforms run three to six months. Larger system modernisations or multi-product builds run six to twelve months. The discovery stage gives you a specific timeline before any development starts, so you can plan launch dates with confidence.

Yes, on well-scoped builds. After a free scoping call we provide a fixed-price quote, written scope and timeline within 24 hours. Out-of-scope changes are quoted in writing before any work begins. For projects where scope is harder to lock down, a paid discovery sprint writes the spec first.

We quote the change in writing before any extra work begins, with a clear cost and timeline impact. You can approve, defer or drop the change as you see fit. Most projects finish with zero scope changes because the discovery stage catches awkward edge cases up front, and the weekly demos surface anything that needs adjusting early.

Most clients spend two to four hours per sprint, mainly on the demo review and sign-off. The Japan-based project lead handles day-to-day decisions and team management. You stay in control of priorities and approve major calls, while the operational work sits with us. Your team gets time back, not more meetings.

Yes. We've taken on a number of mid-project rescues. The first step is a paid technical audit of the existing codebase, infrastructure and documentation. Based on that we either continue the build, recommend a partial rewrite or rebuild from scratch, with a clear quote and timeline either way.

Yes, fully. All code is committed to your repositories from the first sprint, with cloud keys and build pipelines under your accounts. NDAs are signed before any technical detail is discussed. At project close, 100% of source code, infrastructure and intellectual property is yours with a written transfer document, in line with Japanese commercial contract standards.
